Call for Emerging Professionals to join the ISC Water
We invite emerging professionals from ICOMOS National Committees around the globe to join the International Scientific Committee on Water and Heritage (ISC Water). Your fresh perspectives and innovative ideas are crucial for research and practical experiences that inform water management professionals about the significance of material, conceptual/governance, and spiritual water-related cultural heritage in addressing present and future challenges — from sustainability to climate change adaptation.
Objectives of the International Scientific Committee on Water and Heritage (ISC Water):
- Create an international platform for interaction between ICOMOS, its ISCs, other heritage organizations, and the water sector — engaging governments, agencies, communities, and NGOs in networking, education, and dialogue on the significance and management of water heritage.
- Develop methodologies, training programs, policies, and design processes that integrate traditional wisdom to enhance climate change mitigation and adaptation, improving current and future water management strategies.
- Strengthen the role of water heritage in social engagement and policy-making, ensuring that cultural and historical water systems remain at the heart of sustainable planning.
Tasks Expected Over the Next Three Years:
- Assist in policy development & academic research — contribute to policy documents and studies on the cultural significance of water heritage in sustainability.
- Participate in monthly bureau meetings — engage with experts and thought leaders, assisting in discussions on innovative water heritage solutions.
- Curate & organize international events — collaborate with partners to develop conferences and workshops, with potential financial assistance available for attending events in person (Subject to contribution).
